Defining a critic

A critic previews/reviews books or movies and then gives an opinion on the piece under preview/review. He is usually dour and acidic. A jack-of-all-trades, he has no real talent and is considered a failure at his primary vocation. He is most often a failed writer or thespian but finds a niche on celebrity news channels or tabloids.
